A Proactive Approach to Accreditation Compliance

The development and maintenance of a certification program requires a commitment to evaluation and ongoing quality improvement. In 2013, the Association for Financial Counseling and Planning Education® (AFCPE®) began decisive steps to improve the Accredited Financial Counselor® (AFC®) certification and align the program with best practices for certification programs. AFCPE’s primary goal was to earn accreditation under the National Commission for Certifying Agencies’ (NCCA) Standards for the Accreditation of Certification Programs. AFCPE achieved this goal in 2015 when the NCCA accredited the AFC program.

Certification and the maintenance of third-party accreditation require that certifyingorganizations are committed to continuous progress, self-reflection, and improvement. AFCPE partnered with SeaCrest to support the organization’s goal of earning accreditation. The partnership leverages SeaCrest’s knowledge of and expertise in accreditation requirements with AFCPE’s internal resources and institutional knowledge to ensure a comprehensively supported accreditation strategy.
