Credentialing Notes

November 2006

Last week, SeaCrest attended the annual meeting of the National Organization for Competency Assurance (NOCA).  The meeting served as a reminder about how the certification industry is growing and changing. It also highlighted how many opportunities exist in the certification community for agencies to take the next step and advance their program to the next level.  When I first started attending meetings as a NOCA staff member eight years ago, the discussions we had were very different from what my colleague, Cynthia Allen, heard this year around the Exhibit Hall or in the sessions. For example, what are the differences between a certificate and certification program, what are the benefits to a certificate program, and how will certificate programs change the industry?

Cynthia was excited to re-connect with the NOCA community and discuss SeaCrest’s services.  We look forward to working with you in the future.

If you have a suggestion or would like to see something included in Credentialing Notes, please email your feedback to info@seacrestcompany.com.

Best regards,

Talk Back [Editorial]

(Fitness Business Pro) In response to your August article, “NBFE Written Exam Gets Mixed Reviews,” what is the National Board of Fitness Examiners (NBFE) really doing? The leading certification associations like the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) and the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), which require trainers to take a proctored written exam to become certified, did not want to equally recognize organizations that would allow its customers to simply mail in an exam to become certified.
