ICE Job Analysis Study for the Credentialing Professional – Invitation to Participate
The Institute for Credentialing Excellence (ICE, formerly the National Organization for Competency Assurance) is conducting a job analysis study to define the role and responsibilities of the credentialing professional.
ICE requests that if you are a credentialing professional (as defined in the following paragraphs) you will take the time to complete this survey. In addition, we encourage you to forward this invitation to individuals within or outside your organization that you know fall within the scope of credentialing professional.
A credentialing professional provides program management and support to a credentialing organization for one or more of the following functions:
- Operations (the administrative aspects of the credentialing program),
- Issuing, maintaining, and renewing the credential (e.g., development of standards, eligibility review), and
- Test development, administration, scoring, and analysis.
In this context, program management refers to leadership, policy determination, and active involvement with the function, which may include direct delivery of services as well as some oversight responsibilities. Impartiality in credentialing decision making is a fundamental principle that guides the credentialing professional.
The first phase of the job analysis study involved a panel of expert credentialing professionals who identified the essential domains and tasks. The purpose of the survey is to solicit feedback from credentialing professionals about the domains and tasks developed by the panel. It is critically important for as many credentialing professionals as possible to participate in the survey, since the data will have far reaching significance. Credentialing professionals may be employed in a variety of settings, including testing agencies, governmental agencies, and staff members of voluntary boards.
To begin the survey, please go to: http://www.surveymk.com/s.aspx?sm=XYawCQujlPpRUIwxrXzfmg_3d_3d.
A previous invitation to complete the survey was sent in mid-October, and you may not have realized that if you are not a credentialing professional you could invite others to respond. Additionally if you previously started the survey, you can log back in and pick up where you left off. All responses are kept confidential and your individual responses will not be released. All results will be reported as aggregates.
