(ANSI.org) Each year on June 9, IAF and ILAC invite their national representatives from around the world to mark the occasion with dedicated celebrations honoring the important role that accreditation plays in the global standards and conformity assessment community.

Professional Background Screeners Seats First Background Screening Credentialing Council
(Cloud Computing Journal) The National Association of Professional Background Screeners (NAPBS(R)) announces that it has named 11 members to its inaugural Background Screening Credentialing Council (BSCC) and has elected its officers.

Medicine decries nurse doctorate exam being touted as equal to physician testing
(amednews.com) Physician leaders say a new doctor of nursing practice certification exam is being wrongly compared with testing that physicians take. And they fear that patients may be misled into believing nurses who pass the exam share the same qualifications as physicians.

National Medical Interpreter Certification Testing Enters Pilot Phase
(PRNewswire.com) The National Board of Certification for Medical Interpreters will begin the pilot phase of the performance exam that will be part of the testing for National Medical Interpreter Certification. Over the next few weeks, 300 interpreters will "test the test" designed to verify the ability of interpreters to apply their knowledge and skills in real-life medical interpreting scenarios.

Military Pays for Personal Trainer Certification, Reports ISSA
(EarthTimes) In addition to entering the growing fitness industry, military personnel have a good reason to get certified as a personal trainer - it's paid for as part of the Military Tuition Assistance program.

Health IT commission postpones certifications
(Federal Computer Week) The federally-recognized Certification Commission for Healthcare Information Technology (CCHIT) is deferring launch of its 2009-2010 certification programs until it reviews the health IT standards being developed by the Health and Human Services Department this summer under the economic stimulus law.

NCBTMB programs receive accreditation by NCCA
(ChiroECO.com) The National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork (NCBTMB) announced today that the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) has accredited the second of its certification exam programs, making NCBTMB the profession’s only organization to receive such verification for its two examination programs.

BCPE Certification Process Earns NCCA Accreditation
(ErgoWeb) The Board of Certification in Professional Ergonomics (BCPE) was recently accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) for its Certified Professional Ergonomist (CPE)/Certified Human Factors Professional (CHFP) program.

National League for Nursing Certified Nurse Educator CNE Program Receives NCCA Accreditation
(Yahoo!News) The National League for Nursing's highly regarded certification program for academic nurse educators, launched in 2005 to confirm nursing education as an advanced specialty area of practice, has been accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA).
