Best regards, In the News(Certification Magazine) In professional education today, there has been a transformation in the way learning is viewed in terms of time — instead of regarding education as an event, it is being seen more as a process. IC&RC Announces New Certification for Co-Occurring Disorders Practitioners (www.icrcaoda.org) In its ongoing efforts to promote state-of-the-art, quality, competency-based certification programs for professionals engaged in the prevention and treatment of addictions and related problems, Jeff Wilbee, President of the International Certification & Reciprocity Consortium/Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse, Inc. (IC&RC), today announced the IC&RC will offer an international and reciprocal certification for practitioners working with co-occurring/concurrent substance use and mental disorders. Diploma Mills Spread in Alabama where Regulations Lax (Daily Comet) As other states have toughened their stance on diploma mills, which offer degrees for little or no academic work, those schools have migrated to states like Alabama, which has lax regulations. AHIMA to Offer New Certification (Modern Healthcare Online) In April, the American Health Information Management Association will offer a new certification aimed at credentialing the healthcare privacy and security industry. Linux Professional Institute Launches LPIC-3 Certification Program (LinuxPR) The Linux Professional Institute (LPI), the world's premier Linux certification organization and its affiliate LPI-Japan jointly launched the LPIC-3 certification program. Thomson Prometric Takes Control of Japan-Based R-Prometric K.K. (Certification Magazine) Thomson Prometric, a global provider of technology-enabled testing and assessment services, has completed its purchase of all shares of Japanese testing company and affiliate R-Prometric K.K., now a wholly owned subsidiary. Consistency, Accuracy, Responsibility, and Excellence in Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy Act of 2007 (H.R.583) To amend the Public Health Service Act to make the provision of technical services for medical imaging examinations and radiation therapy treatments safer, more accurate, and less costly. National Board-Certified Teachers in Low-Performing Schools Act of 2007 (H.R.280) To establish a pilot program to encourage certification of teachers in low-income, low-performing public elementary and secondary schools by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards, and for other purposes. Midwifery Care Access and Reimbursement Equity Act of 2007 (S.507 see also H.R.864) To amend title XVIII of the Social Security Act to provide for reimbursement of certified midwife services and to provide for more equitable reimbursement rates for certified nurse-midwife services.
